The Mt. Auburn March for the Cure

The Mt. Auburn March for the Cure is celebrating its 3rd year in the fight against breast cancer. Area residents have been making a huge difference by participating in the walk, run and ride. Breast cancer will strike one in seven women. Whether it is your mother, daughter, wife, sister or friend, you will be affected! Being part of the Mt. Auburn March for the Cure is a way to fight back and support The Little Red Door Cancer Agency. Participants may walk, run or ride in honor or memory of a loved one.

Each year the event has doubled in size. This year organizers are planning for 1,000 participants to run, ride and bike through Shelby County’s beautiful country side terrain, just east of Edinburgh and I65. A goal of $12,000 has been earmarked to assist area women in detection, prevention and cure of breast cancer. Many groups support the effort including: Southern Indiana Surgery Center, Panera Bread, Mt. Auburn Christian Church, Edinburgh, Shelbyville and Franklin Tri Kappa Sororities, The Star Factory Dance Studio, Shelbyville News, Edinburgh Lions Club, Boy Scouts, FFA, Edinburgh Varsity and Junior Varsity basketball and cheerleading teams and more! Local high school groups and churches encourage participation in this worthy effort. All volunteers are a blessing.

Volunteers are needed to help with this event. Registration, drink stations, and door prize collection are all needed. Breast cancer survivors will be recognized. A balloon release, sponsored by Murphy Parks Funeral Home, Shelbyville will take place.

Make plans to be a part of the Mt. Auburn March for the Cure.
